Back in 1942, a woman named Cita was craving for something sweet. Her boyfriend at the time, was a rice field farmer named Kulas. One day, Cita had a hankering for freshly cooked rice. So Kulas cooked some by his farm but instead of adding salt to taste, he put in brown sugar. Kulas also left the pot for a longer period of time than usual and had too much water. The resulting product was a sweet, pasty rice cake like substance that Kulas found appetizing. He brought this to Cita which she loved and decided to give her friends in the barrio. They named it after themselves, Kulas and Cita. Kutsinta.
