1) The ends are sometimes worn down or uneven.
2) The measurement-markings don't always start at the very edge. Some rulers add a little before the markings.
I would measure its length in inches, its weight in ounces, and its screen brightness in lumens.
Shells have an irregular shape; they are best measured with a flexible ruler, such as a cloth tape measure.
The best method to accurately measure crank arm length is to use a ruler or measuring tape to measure the distance from the center of the bottom bracket to the center of the pedal spindle. This measurement should be taken in millimeters for precision.
Tape measure. Cache line. Caliper. Micrometers. Lasers.
A ruler or tape measure would be the best tool. You cannot measure the volume directly. First, measure the length, width and height with the ruler and use the formula of volume of cubiod (L x W x H)
If you have to measure the pencil to a couple decimal places i would suggest a micrometer and a dial caliper.
You would use a ruler or a meterstick to measure the length of the strap on your book bag. A yardstick is typically used for larger measurements and may not be as precise for measuring smaller objects like a strap.
I find the best way is to get a piece of string and place it at the top of your head. Pull it tight and measure out where the average lenght of your hair is. Then measure the string, to find the actual length. Otherwise, a pretty easy (but less exact) way is to take a ruler, place it against the side of your head with the 0 inches at the top of your head and measure to where your hair falls.
I would most likely use either a ruler or a tape measure. For a common, typical desktop, the length, once measured, could most appropriately be described in terms of centimeters or inches.
A metric ruler would be the best bet. Simply measure the length, the width and the height of the box and multiple all three measurements together to find the volume of the box in the unit that you measured the boxes in, cubed.
A small picture frame hanging in your house, for example, would be best measured with either a small tape measure, or a 12 inch ruler. Bigger pictures would need a longer tape measure.
The length of a caterpillar is typically measured in millimeters or centimeters using a ruler or calipers. To measure the length accurately, one would place the caterpillar in a straight line and measure from the tip of its head to the end of its last body segment. It is important to ensure the caterpillar is not moving during the measurement to obtain an accurate length.
