In William Peterson's last episode titled "On the Go" his character offers Fishburne's character a job at the crime lab, starting a new beginning for him and the lab itself. William Peterson left CSI in order to explore more options with his life, he seemed to be stuck in a great job, but was left with the feeling that he wanted to do more. This feeling had hit him a couple years ago as well when he took a sabbatical in season seven of CSI, the showed played it off as Gil Grissom teaching at William's College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
