Odysseus tells the Cyclops Polyphemus that his name is "Nobody" to cleverly protect himself and his men. When he later blinds Polyphemus, the Cyclops calls for help, saying that "Nobody" is attacking him, leading the other Cyclopes to believe he is not in danger. The tactic highlights Odysseus's cunning nature and strategic intelligence in dire situations.

Calypso allows Odysseus to leave her island after Athene asks Zeus to tell Calyspo that if she doesnt allow Odysseus to leave her island that if she doesnt that Zeus will strike her with a thunderbolt and kill her as he is not a prisoner to her island and need to get home to be with Penelope (his wife). Zeus sends Hermes the messenger God to tell Calypso. Although Calypso is furious and doesnt want Odysseus to leave, she lets him because obviously she doesnt want to die so she helps him build a raft and gives him gifts for his journey home.

1. When the Cyclops Polyphemus asks Odysseus where his ship is, Odysseus lies and says it was destroyed upon the rocks of the shore. 2. Odysseus told the cyclops that his name was "Nobody". When Odysseus and his men blind the cyclops (neither Odysseus nor the Cyclops dies), he yells to his friends for help. They ask him what is wrong and he answers saying, "Nobody's killing me now by fraud and not by force!" (Fagles' translation 9.455).
