a would have to be a flat character or a round characterno idea what that last sentence was about... anyway he stirres up storms and sets horrible monsters oN THEM I THINK.
Poseidon, the god of the seas, is trying to prevent Odysseus from getting home because Odysseus blinded the Cyclops Polyphemus, who is Poseidon's son. Poseidon holds a grudge against Odysseus for this act of cunning.
Some gods, particularly Poseidon, sought to prevent Odysseus and his men from returning home due to Odysseus's actions during the Trojan War, specifically his blinding of Poseidon's son, the Cyclops Polyphemus. Additionally, the gods often intervened in mortal affairs to test their character, teach lessons, or assert their own power. This divine conflict reflects the themes of fate and free will in "The Odyssey," as Odysseus faces numerous challenges that test his resolve and ingenuity.
Poseidon
Posiedon is angry with Odysseus because he blinded his son, the cyclops Polyphemus.
Polythemus was the cyclops that trapped Odysseus and his men in his cave. Odysseus then got him very drunk and told him his name was Nobody. When Polythemus passed out, Odysseus and his men blinded him. The neighboring Cyclopses didn't help him becasue Polythemus screamed "Nobody is killing me!". When they get off the land, Odysseus shouts his real name to Polythemus in a fit of arrogance. Polythemus prayed to his father, Poseidon to prevent Odysseus from returning home to Ithica. He is also the son of Thoosa, a nymph.
The gods, are pretty much, the fate holders. Gods are known to be arrogant, so it is always best to remain in their favor. Odysseus, in the first part of the Odyssey, upsets Poseidon, so the whole time Poseidon is trying to prevent Odysseus from going home. (He eventually makes it though.)
Poseidon is very upset with Odysseus so he captures him and his partner and they have to figure out how to defeat his monster. The goddess Athena tells them how to defeat it... She says you have to grab the doubled headed snake (monster) and keep holding onto it as it transforms into a lion and all sorts of creatures..... Odysseus and his partner defeat it!
In Homer's "The Odyssey," Poseidon is depicted as a powerful god but not omnipresent, as he is shown to be physically limited in his ability to intervene. For instance, he is unable to prevent Odysseus from receiving assistance from other gods, like Athena, who actively aids him. Additionally, Poseidon often reacts to Odysseus' actions from afar, indicating he does not possess constant awareness or control over every situation. This suggests that while Poseidon wields significant power, he is not everywhere at once.
