Craters on the moon are not volcanic, they are impact craters.
There is a national monument and national preserve located in Idaho that is called The Craters of the Moon. The name is a poetical reference to the desolation of the substantial lava fields in the park. It has nothing to do with the actual moon or its craters.
Craters of the Moon National Monument is located in central Idaho, USA. It is situated roughly 18 miles southwest of Arco and 24 miles northwest of Carey. The monument features vast lava fields, cinder cones, and unique geological formations.
