Slave traders viewed slaves as property to be bought and sold for profit. Treating them as cargo was a way to maximize their own financial gain. The inhuman conditions on the Middle Passage were often justified by the mindset that slaves were expendable and replaceable.
Disgusting, slaves sitting in their own filth on shelves
The living conditions were horrible. They were sorta like the middle passage. Look it up on wikipedia
slave resistance was really bad in the middle passage. As we know the middle passage is between Africa and the Caribbean. here the slaves were exchanged for other items. in this process they were beaten to pulp, given little or no food and had to go through extreme hardships.
Not exactly. The Middle Passage was a part of the Triangular Trade (more prefferably than "Triangular Passage"). And this Triangular Trade was an international trade network at that time, among Europe,Africa, and America. It had three legs, or parts. The Middle Passage is the second leg, and also the most important. It is where the African slaves were exchaged for European goods like guns and crops.
It was a huge 1700's ship designed to carry 300 slaves however traders managed to fit 600 african slaves on the boat
Many slaves died during the Middle Passage due to inhumane conditions aboard the ships, including overcrowding, lack of ventilation, and inadequate sanitation. Disease spread rapidly in these cramped quarters, leading to outbreaks of illnesses like dysentery and smallpox. Additionally, malnutrition and dehydration were prevalent, as enslaved individuals were provided minimal and insufficient food and water. The brutal treatment and harsh conditions contributed significantly to the high mortality rates during this transatlantic journey.
middle passage
The middle passage was a terrible experiance for the slaves as they were all chained up lying on wooden pannels which would often have more slaves above them, they we're fed disgusting nasty food and were abused physically and mentaly. They were often exercised and given fresh air once or twice a day and were made to dance etc. They were treated like this for many many weeks, even months. So thats why:) Writen by a 13yr old girl from scotland;D
