After leaving Calypso's island, Odysseus washes ashore on the island of Phaeacia, where he is found by Princess Nausicaa. The Phaeacians, known for their hospitality, welcome him and provide him with food and shelter. Eventually, they help him return to his homeland of Ithaca by providing him with a ship.

After the last of his men are destroyed, Odysseus ends up alone on the island of Ogygia, home to the nymph Calypso. She keeps him there for several years, longing for his companionship. Eventually, the goddess Athena intervenes, prompting Zeus to order Calypso to let Odysseus go, allowing him to continue his journey home to Ithaca.
After his men disobeyed his orders and killed and ate Helio's sheep, Zeus punished them by destroying their ship, leaving only Odysseus as Survivor. After drifting in the sea awhile, he came to the island which was owned by the nymph, Calypso. He and Calypso engaged in a seven-year long love affair, until he was permitted to build a ship and head home.

Other films may include interpretations of "The Odyssey," where Calypso is depicted as the nymph who keeps Odysseus on her island.
Hermes helps Odysseus at the end of his 7-years on Ogygia with Calypso, and just before he meets up with Circe.
Calypso asks Odysseus if Penelope is more beautiful than her and if she is a better match for him. She also questions if Penelope can love him as deeply as she does. These questions indicate Calypso's jealousy towards Penelope and her fear of losing Odysseus to his wife.
