Unci /oohn chee
This is only partly, exactly 1/2, true. It depends on whether or not one is referring to mother's mother or father's mother. Mother's mother is Unci. However, father's mother is kunsi.
When speaking about family members, Lakota has different terms for relatives on the mother and father's side:
unci = maternal grandmother [oon-chee]
k'unši = paternal grandmother [kh.oonshi]
For the Sioux Indian language, grandmother is Coonshi and it is pronounced Coo-shi.
