The Doctor doesn't have a 'gang' per se, only one or two travelling companions plus a few other people (both alien and human) who help him in his work.

His most recent travelling companion was the character Clara Oswald, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman. Clara has no boyfriend, and has been repeatedly re-incarnated through space and time with the specific purpose of saving The Doctor's life.

His previous travelling companions were Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillan, and her boyfriend Rory Williams, played by Arthur Darvill. These ended their companionship with him at the end of the 2012 season, not by being killed exactly but by being blasted back to the late 19th Century by the creatures known as The Weeping Angels, who feed on time-energy.

The Doctor also has three friends who are always on call to help him in his adventures, one human and two alien- these are Madame Vastra played by Neve McIntosh, who is a Silurian warrior, her human lesbian wife Jenny Flint played by Catrin Stewart, who originated as a late Victorian maidservant and is a Martial Arts expert, and Strax played by Dan Starkey, a Sontaran nurse who serves as Jenny and Vastra's butler. It is true that this trio are sometimes known as 'The Paternoster Gang'.

The Doctor had contacts with the Torchwood agents, and with Sarah-Jane Smith from the spin-off series's 'K-9' and 'The Sarah Jane Adventures'. However, due to poor viewing ratings after it was transplanted to a US setting, Torchwood is unlikely to be reintroduced in the foreseeable future, and the tragic death of Sarah-Jane actress Elizabeth Sladen (who played the 4th Doctor's companion in the '70s) in April 2011 means that her spin-off series will not come back.

It would be impossible for me to give you a full listing here of ALL The Doctor's companions since the series began in 1963 (including in the three film versions), but you will be able to obtain this from the official Dr.Who website.
