Disney's version of Pocahontas shares some similarities with the real story, such as the central figure of Pocahontas, a Native American woman from the Powhatan tribe, and her interactions with English settlers, particularly John Smith. Both versions highlight the themes of cultural exchange and conflict between Native Americans and Europeans. Additionally, Pocahontas's role in promoting peace and understanding between the two groups is a key element in both the film and historical accounts. However, it's important to note that Disney's portrayal significantly romanticizes and alters many aspects of the true story.
There's nothing "dangerous" in watching Disney's story of Pocahontas, however, watching it does not give an accurate portrayal of the lives of the real Pocahontas & John Smith.
Yes. There are pictures and eye witness accounts of her life.
(Disney) Governor Ratcliffe's dog.In real life there was a man called George Percy who was a colonist who was a council president and followed John Smith.
Pocahontas was a real historical figure, a Native American woman who lived in the early 17th century in the area that is now Virginia. However, many of the stories and legends surrounding her life have been exaggerated and distorted over time, leading to a mythologized version of her story.
The story of Pocahontas is much more drab in reality and truth than the fanciful fictions written in movies. Pocahontas the movie succeeded as it built on a type of Romeo and Juliet storyline that is always a good sell. Pocahontas the real person succeeded because she stayed true to her cultural teachings.
Pocahontas
No one knows exactly when Pocahontas was born (no calendars), but it is believed it was sometime in 1595. BTW, Pocahontas was a nickname- her real name was Matoaka- and later she changed it to Rebecca. Do some reading on the REAL Pocahontas- better than the Disney story. It is in the book "Tales of Famous Americans" by Connie & Peter Roop. It is on page 2-7.
yes, he is real cause he wrote a book about Pocahontas and Pocahontas saved him
There was a talking tree called 'Grandma'. Do I need to continue?
disney phochantas was about two aldults but in real life the man was 28 and phocohantus was 13.
Because the real story is never told. Many people have taken the story by Smith and turned it into cartoons and movies. He never met her and lied in a book he wrote after she died. She was held hostage by the colonists for 4 years and became a Christian changing her name to Rebecca. When John Rolfe came to Jamestown with his tobacco seeds he also married Pocahontas and they left for England. She had a baby boy there and died about age 19. Her grave is in England. Her real story is so much better than the silly legend told about her.
