SOUTHEAST
The region that includes Cherokee and Creek American Indians primarily encompasses the southeastern United States, particularly areas in present-day Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee. The Cherokee traditionally inhabited the Appalachian Mountains and surrounding areas, while the Creek, also known as the Muscogee, resided in the lower southeastern regions, including parts of Alabama and Georgia. Both tribes have rich cultural histories and played significant roles in the early interactions with European settlers.
