What was the conflict between the Indians and white settlers?

Mainly it was a conflict over land. Because the white settlers wanted the Native Americans land along with their produce. So the Native Americans were not only fighting for their land, but also for their resources and to keep their traditions.

One of the major conflicts between Native Americans and settlers was over land. The Native Americans hunted and gathered their food on the land, and believed that the land was for everyone. The settlers claimed land for themselves and interfered with the Native American way of life. Settler progress in taking land was relentless. Add to the mix that the settlers had an eminent domain mentality, meaning they felt they were entitled to any lands they needed. The Indian, on the other hand, did not understand the concept of owning the Earth Mother. Then add in the religious differences. Although the settlers said they wanted freedom of religion, in reality that meant everyone needed to have the freedom to choose the settler's religion.
