Pocahontas, correctly called Matoaka, was the beloved daughter of Powhatan. Pocahontas was actually a loving nickname given to Matoaka meaning spoiled child.

Matoaka did save John Smith's life as the romanticized version of history suggests. John Smith actually made up three different versions of how the maiden Pocahontas saved his life, presumably to escalate his standing in society at the time. Powhatan and the tribe actually treated John Smith well when he visited.

After her release from imprisonment at seventeen by agreeing to marry John Rolfe and to change her name, she sailed to England with John Rolfe where she was introduced to society.

Her major accomplishments would have to be that she was a beloved, dutiful daughter and that she was a mother of a son. She died at 22
