Before arriving in Florida, the Seminole Indians primarily resided in the southeastern United States, particularly in regions that are now part of Georgia and Alabama. They are believed to have descended from various Native American groups, including the Creek Indians, who migrated to Florida in the 18th century. The Seminoles formed as a distinct group in Florida in the early 19th century, blending different tribal influences and cultures. Their movement to Florida was influenced by European colonization and pressures from other tribes.

When the United States was subduing the nations of the Southeast, members of various tribes who wished to continue resistence formed the Seminole nation. Originally it was more of a confederation (the members spoke different languages) but time and common cause welded it into a single nation. Technically, the Seminoles are still at war with the United States.

Since the Seminole Indians came from Cree, Creek and Cherokee, they were all very familiar with horses brought by the Spanish invaders. Of course some of them were able to train and ride horses. In the wetlands and swamps horses were of limited use and it depended upon where the Seminoles lived whether they used horses or not.
The Seminole are a Native American people originally of Florida, and now residing in that state and in Oklahoma. The Seminole nation came into existence in the 18th century and was composed of Indians from Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida, most significantly the Creek Nation, as well as African Americans who escaped from slavery in South Carolina and Georgia (see Black Seminoles). While roughly 3,000 Seminoles were forced west of the Mississippi River, including the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, who picked up new members along their way, approximately 300 to 500 Seminoles stayed and fought in and around the Everglades of Florida. In a series of wars against the Seminoles in Florida, about 1,500 U.S. soldiers died. The Seminoles never surrendered to the United States government, hence, the Seminoles of Florida call themselves the "Unconquered People." The Florida Seminoles are the only American Indian tribe never to sign a formal peace treaty with the United States.Source: Answers.com

I doubt that they did. As much as I learned, they come from Asia. During the ice age, there was a land bridge that the Natives followed, and then they came to America.
Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon and his crew landed on the shores of St. Augustine, searching for the elusive 'Fountain of Youth' in 1565. Founded and named by European settlers, it's the oldest permanent settlement in the United States. Because of it's sunshine, bountiful and rich flora, the state was named Florida, Spanish for "Feast of Flowers." In 1845 it became the 27th State in the Union. The original human inhabitants of Florida are the Seminole Native American Tribes.
