Who was the chief of the anasazi?

Anasazi is a Navajo word for a native american group (not one tribe) that existed in the area before the Navajo and experienced a serious population decline before Europeans arrived. So they existed for many thousands of years.

Their descendants are most likely the Hopi, so the culture of the so called Anasazi was probably similar to that of modern day Hopi. So when the Navajo arrived and called them Anasazi they probably called themselves Hopi as they do now.

The early Anasazi people lived in small community groups of just a few families, with probably ten to twenty people living in each little village. The Anasazi population greatly increased during the last half of the 11th century, filling the Grand Canyon region of the Southwest. Then, as their society grew, the individual Anasazi villages banded together to control their water supply with earthen dams and irrigation systems, turning parts of the high arid desert into farmland to feed their people. Nothing is really known about individual Anasazi leaders, just as little is really known about the people in general, aside from archaeological evidence about their homes, clothing, pottery, etc.
