Honestly, they didn't. The Iroquois (or as they call themselves, Haudenosaunee) lived in longhouses that could be built up to 100 feet long and 25 feet high.
wigwams
The Iroquois built wigwams by using a framework of sturdy poles made from saplings or young trees. These poles were bent and tied together to form a dome shape. The frame was then covered with bark or woven mats to provide insulation and protection from the elements.
longhouses and wigwams
they lived in teepees and wigwams that they built themselves.
Algonquins lived in Wigwams and Iroquois lived in long houses. They both had smoke holes for cooking.
wigwams are portable houses that the Iroquois used to travle places...and there are longhouses that are permanent .(so you can't travle with them)
The main difference between them is that the Algonquians traced along the line of there father which is called Patrilineal and the Iroquois traced the line of their mothers ancestry which is called Matrilineal.
The Iroquois would use plants to..... build houses( longhouses &wigwams), eat plants (for food), to clothes out of grass/and other plants, and ect.! Hope I helped you a little bit! :)
Usually wigwams and longhouses. The wigwams would house a single family, while normally the longhouses would house several families.
