Florida
Pensacola was taken by Andrew Jackson, and Florida was ceded to the United States as an end result.
In 1818, Andrew Jackson led U.S. forces into Florida during the Seminole War. Jackson's invasion was in response to raids and attacks on American settlements by Seminole Indians and their allies. He pursued the Seminoles into Spanish-held Florida, captured forts, and eventually took control of the territory. Jackson's actions ultimately pressured Spain to cede Florida to the United States in the Adams-Onís Treaty of 1819.
The United States Army was their opponent in all 3 Wars.
The United States sent Andrew Jackson to Florida in 1817 in pursuit of Indians. He invaded the state.
Americans wanted to gain control of Florida because it was controlled by Spain and slave ships were brought in. Florida was gained when President Monroe asked Andrew Jackson to look into problems the Georgians had with the Seminole Indians. Jackson invaded Florida & overthrew the Spanish government. Spain then agreed to sell Florida to the United States rather than fight
The Oklahoma Territory was give to the United States by the Seminole Indians.
The Seminole Indians fought with the United States Army. In 1835 the Seminoles Defeated the United States Army in the Battle of Dade and started the Second Seminole War. In 1837 the Army captured Chief Osceola. 145 Indians were captured and shipped to Oklahoma. The rest of the Indians slipped into the everglades. They remained at war until the 1950s when after over a hundred years the United States Army gave up and paid the Seminoles an indemnity.
During the 1800s, the Seminole people were primarily controlled by the United States government, which sought to remove them from their lands in Florida through a series of treaties and military actions. This culminated in the Seminole Wars, particularly the Second and Third Seminole Wars (1835-1842 and 1855-1858), where the U.S. aimed to forcibly relocate the Seminole to Indian Territory west of the Mississippi River. Despite facing significant military pressure, many Seminole resisted removal and continued to inhabit the swamps and forests of Florida.
Osceola (1804 - January 30, 1838) was an influential leader with the Seminole in Florida. Osceola led a small band of warriors in the Seminole resistance during the Second Seminole War when the United States tried to remove the Seminoles from their lands. He exercised a great deal of influence on Micanopy, the highest-ranking chief of the Seminoles
