Some how artists are able to use "happy colors" and make you at first interpret a piece as joyful, then after looking at it and thinking about it for a while feel melancholy inside. Artists make art off of inspiration, it can come from anywhere.

Most influential artists become influential by doing the former, with others not in that category doing the later.
