I can categorically state that scientists are not trying to bring the dead back to life, and they would have no way of doing that even if they wanted to. A technical exception is the case of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) which can be used to revive people who are clinically dead because their hearts have stopped beating, but who have not been dead for very long. Once decay sets in, or once a body has been embalmed to prevent decay, death is irreversible by any humanly available means. If you are thinking of cryonics, there are people who have arranged to be frozen after death in the hope that someday they may be brought back to life, but nobody at present knows how to do such a thing, and I know of no serious research being done on means of reviving cryogenically preserved bodies.
