Christ's Disciple, Simon Peter is traditionally considered to have been crucified upside down, as is related by Roman theologian Origen in his work Eusebius.

While Peter's death is believed to be foretold by Christ in scripture, no mention is made of Paul's death. Ignatius of Antioch, the third bishop of Antioch states that Paul was martyred, but no detail has been found in any writing. Church tradition has it that he was beheaded by Nero around 64 to 67 AD by the Emperor Nero at Tre Fontane Abbey.
