How did the Black Dahlia die?

Elizabeth Ann Short or as most know her "The Black Dahlia" was murdered in 1947 in Los Angeles, California. Her murder was brutal. First she was drowned and her body drained of blood, next the unknown murderer removed major organ masses. He severed the body in half near the waist and carved BD (symbolizing Black Dahlia which was her nickname) somehwere in her body. He cut her mouth from ear to ear creating a large smile. Soon after he raped and sodomized her body, then scrubbed it clean and dumped it off in a vacant lot somewhere outside of L.A.

Although she was sodomized there was no penetration to conclude rape.

According to the LA medical examiner who preformed the autopsy on Short, he concluded that death was caused by blunt force trauma to the victim's head. The mutilation was postmortem not antemortem. And although Short's body was drained of blood and scrubbed clean, she did not drown and it is only speculation that she was even in a bathtub.

Furthermore, the above mentioned theory of a jealous woman as the killer is flawed to say the least. The perpertrator is most likely a white male, probably at least 30 years old. He had access to an automobile and a house or residence with a certain amount of privacy. Short was held somewhere before her death and was tortured prior to her death.
