Emmett Till was killed by Roy Bryant and J. W. Milam, for whistling at Roy's wife, Carol Bryant. (J. W. Milam was Roy Bryant's half brother.) The whistle was a reference meaning that the woman was pretty. Of course, interaction between blacks and whites, at the time, was considered socially unacceptable. Till was kidnapped, nearly beaten to death, and had multiple bullet wounds, including in his head. To dispose of his body, they attached a heavy fan around the boy's neck and threw him in the Tallahatchie River in Mississippi.

He was killed in a town named Money. In Mississippi.

Money, Mississippi.
