The presidency
The answer is by his own instruction.
Much of his life is not told on his tombstone. He wrote out what he wanted and it mainly states he wrote the Declaration of Independence. He did much more. The tombstone is not on his plantation where he is buried but has been at the University of Missouri for many years. Recently it was found in poor shape in a corner of an attic broken in 3 parts. The Smithsonian institution has it now and working to repair it and restore it as much as they can.
