It is a great book. You really must read it. It starts with Ned proposing to Nancy. However, he seems relieved when she says that she wants to wait. The back cover blurb is: "Ned takes Nancy out for a special, romantic dinner. But when he asks her to marry him, she turns him down. Then, the next night, he announces his engagement to the new girl in River Heights, Jessica Thorne! Nancy is hurt - and suspicious. "Jessica goes out of her way to make friends with Nancy. She invited her to go skydiving, and when Nancy's chute fails to open, she saves her life. Still, Nancy is determined to uncover the secret of Jessica's past - and her true interest in Ned - before the final knot is tied." Long story short, Ned never was interested in Jessica and is only seeing her to do a little investigating about her suspicious behaviors. Jessica plans to kill Ned and say that he is the secret husband Scott who never got a divorce. She will collect the money from his death. The book cannot really be summed up here, but I hightly recommend it. It is case #24 and I found a copy at a used bookstore.
