Grindcore usually features mostly pig squeal style vocals, blast and gravity beats from the drums, and chugging on the guitar.
deathcore can be seen as a blend of (modern) death metal (palm muted riffs, DM riffs) with metalcore elements (eg. breakdowns) and maybe some grindcore.[also it must be said that deathcore IS NOT grindcore, like many people think!!!) i'd say it's forerunner is slam death metal like dying fetus, skinless and stuff. (deathmetal with breakdowns and lots of grooves.) another feature are inhale, pig squeal like vocals, which not every band uses tho... (the "bree") some examples of deathcore bands: all shall perish the red chord despised icon carnifex suicide silenence knights of the abyss impending doom bring me the horizon (good but overrated) winds of plague(melodic deathcore) waking the cadaver("brutal" deathcore) annotations of an autopsy whitechapel war from a harlots mouth the partisan turbine the acacia strain as blood runs black beneath the sky the number 12 looks like you arsonists get all the girls ... all these bands sound pretty different! Ummm... most of those are not deathcore, here are some, Bring Me The Horizon(early music not suicide season)** As Blood Runs Black** Between The Buried And Me* The Final Burden Deathcore is a heavier death metal Verizon but not as loud as death metal is, distorded deathcore isn't deathcore it's grindcore like: Suicide silence* Born Of Osiris(electrogrind)* Whitechapel(my favorite)** Abnormality(playable on rock band 2 and only has a demo so far, 3 songs)* Death metal is like: Cannibal Corpse(most known) Bring Me The Horizon(later, Suicide Season)** and many other pure insanity bands
It all comes from hardcore. Punk split off into a few different genres after its inception in the mid-late 70s. One of these was hardcore, seen as being more pure and loyal to the core aesthetics of the movement - hence the name hardcore. Over the years, metal bands from many different metal subgenres took on hardcore influences, hence sludgecore, deathcore, grindcore, metalcore... although applecore is really only Lawnmower Deth taking the p's
Grindcore emerged during the mid-1980s.
If you enjoy death metal and the aspects of hardcore music, you'll enjoy deathcore.
