Who was the first person to die?

The earliest Biblical death recorded in the King James Version is Abel, killed by Cain, but since other religious or cultural texts record deaths much earlier alternate sources should be considered.

No one knows. The human race evolved and developed from lower forms of life. Death and dying was not recorded until after writing was invented. Even then only the deaths of notable people were recorded.
Various religions will claim different people were the first. The claims cannot be validated and are mutually exclusive. No credence can be placed with any such claim.

A problem is that "person" is poorly defined. If you consider that "Lucy" the australopithicas afarensis discovered in the northern Rift Valley of East Africa to be a "person", the first death of this nature occurred some 4 to 2.7 million years ago. More recently (so to speak) human hair has been found in 200,000 year old hyena scat in Africa - it is presumed that sometime around the time of being eaten the person died
