The vaishya diet is traditionally vegetarian. In addition to not eating meat, a vaishya is also supposed to avoid alcohol [I would assume in the current world this would also include drugs]. The vaishya diet is a Sattvic one. The Sattvic diet has also often been referred to as the yogic diet and is made up of a very complicated system that delineates foods and the interrelations of their unique properties. Ahimsa [not harming] is a crucial part of the diet and the practice. Due to this, almost all practitioners choose vegetarianism or veganism.
