It's always a question about balance between what, and how much.

Sprite (unless it's low-cal version) will have quite a lot of calories, and if you're on a diet, you're probably trying to limit your calorie intake.

This makes Sprite, as well as any soda a poor choice to drink if you're on a diet.

But again, it's all about balance. If you really love Sprite, then it's possible to make room for it - either by just having a small amount, or by making sure that everything else you eat is really, really low in calories, or by exercising real hard that day.
