When Ambien is combined with any CNS depressant, which includes alcohol, it will increase the effects of that depressant. Therefore, great care and caution must be exercised whenever mixing ambien with any CNS depressant, including percocet. Talk to your doctor because, if there is a need to mix the two, then the dosages will have to be modified to prevent their additive effect.

It is probably different for every body but I find that it does have a tendency to keep you awake if taken right before bed. I would suggest taking it a hour or two before (preferably two) trying to fall asleep. Like I said this probably varies depending on the person but percocet can have a speed affect that wears off fairly quickly.
