My experience has been that Psyllium (whole husks) does a fine job in that regard.

It can be purchased in bulk cans or as capsules. (The capsules are much more expensive.) It's available in health food stores, some large super markets, and pharmacies. Be sure to shop around for a price.

I just take a tbls of the bulk powder, swill it up in water, and gulp it down ... one dose at breakfast and another at supper time.

PLZ NOTE: I have no formal medical training, but speak only from years of personal experience.
