Just a few small changes can make a big difference:

Keep a food diary and write down everything you eat. This will help you become more conscious of what you are in-taking on a daily basis. Pay attention to Daily Nutrition labels and try not to eat above your daily needed values. Look at ingredients lists- in general, the less ingredients there are, the better, and if you can't pronounce it, you probably shouldn't be eating it. Avoid snacking during the day- eat three square meals instead. Don't grocery shop while you're hungry, you'll buy lots of food that you don't need. Avoid processed foods, food that comes in boxes and cooks in a microwave, as much as you can. Drink only water: no soda, milk, or juices.
