This goal is not possible to achieve in 2.5 months by only changing your dietary habits. Read on!

Let's lay out the data: (FYI - this assumes you need 2,000 calories per day to maintain your current weight)

50lbs @ 3500 calories per pound = 175,000 calories need to be eliminated or burned off:

2 and a half months = 75 days

175,000 calories divided by 75 days = 2,333 calories per day.

Assuming you are eating 2,000 calories per day right now - you can cut this down to 1,200 calories per day (talk to your doctor before doing this). That removes 800 calories per day.

Now you still need to remove 1,533 calories per day! (2,333 - 800). Simple - exercise 1,533 calories burned per day.

If you only eat less - without any of the exercise you might lose about 17 pounds in 2.5 months.

Slow and steady wins the race. Try lengthening your goal to 6 months. Eating 1,500 calories per day, exercising 400 calories burned per day - in 6 months expect to drop 46 pounds!
