It is absolutely important for foals to have colostrum in the early hours after birth to make sure they have the proper antibodies in their system for their immune systems to function properly. A blood test is available to evaluate the presence of antibodies and there is a blood transfusion that will be required if the anti-bodies are too low. It IS a matter of life and death for the foal. FOR HOWRSE: true
It can, but it can also make them defecate too. Colostrum for calves is what helps a calf pass its first stool.
every woman who is self-confident, in good mental health, and whose breasts are physically sound can induce lactation and breast feed. Lactation, whether induced or postpartum, is not dependent on any of the sexual organs, rather it is the result of a positive mental attitude, physical stimulation of the breasts, and brain chemistry. This is true for women who have never been pregnant, as well as women who are post-hysterectomy or post-oophorectomy. For most women, the ability to lactate and breast feed typically begins in the teen years, and extends well past the child bearing years. Even though nipple and breast stimulation often cause sexual arousal, the mammary system functions independently of the reproductive organs, making it possible to induce lactation and breast feed without having been pregnant. The quality of milk and the physical means by which a woman lactates, after having artificially induced lactation, is identical to postpartum lactation with the exception of the production of colostrum. Colostrum, which is normally produced for the first few days postpartum, is not produced during the process of induced lactation or relactation. Physical techniques of suckling, methods of increasing lactation, and care of the breasts are the same for induced lactation as it is for postpartum lactation. The only differences between induced lactation and postpartum lactation is the method by which the essential milk producing hormones are stimulated into production and the lack of colostrum.... http://stargatelibraries.com/PossibleToInduce.html
This sounds pretty idiotic to me unless your some kind of savage.
When mixing powdered colostrum, the general guideline is to use 30-60 ml of water for every gram of powdered colostrum. It's essential to follow the specific instructions provided by the manufacturer, as concentrations can vary. Make sure the water is warm (not boiling) to help dissolve the powder effectively. Always consult your veterinarian for personalized advice regarding colostrum preparation for your specific needs.
It better--it HAS to!! A calf needs to be up and suckling from its mother within one to three hours after birth to get the best-quality colostrum as possible. Anything after and the calf won't be getting adequate colostrum to make it that much more healthier than what's possible for it to get. And yes, when I mean a calf is up, I mean it's up and walking around, not sitting down.
Two weeks after delivery is the period that the postpartum WF takes to be prepared.and takes 6 weeks to make it full.
Someone can survive postpartum depression by talking to other and letting them know how one feels. It is also advised to consult with a family doctor and make sure that he or she is aware of what is going on with one's health. A doctor may refer someone to join a group for other mothers that have postpartum depression to help one through the bad days.

Not always. Colostrum can leak from your breasts at any time. Pregnancy or not. Hormone changing can make you leak a little big of colostrum. Some women will leak more then others, especially if they've already had children.
