The Stelrad Ideal W2000 radiator has been a popular model in the heating industry for several decades, first introduced in the 1980s. Its design has remained largely unchanged, focusing on efficiency and performance. The exact age can vary depending on specific production batches, but it generally has been in use for over 40 years.

The Stelrad Ideal W2000 boiler was first introduced in the 1980s. To determine its age, you would need to check the serial number or installation date, as models can vary significantly in production years. If the boiler is still operational, it’s likely over 30 years old, which is typical for such models if they haven't been replaced. Regular servicing is recommended for older units to ensure safety and efficiency.
The pilot light on a Stelrad W2000 boiler may not stay on due to several reasons, including a faulty thermocouple that fails to detect heat, a dirty pilot orifice that disrupts gas flow, or issues with gas supply. Additionally, a malfunctioning gas valve or draft issues can also prevent the pilot from remaining lit. Regular maintenance and inspection can help identify and resolve these issues. If problems persist, it's advisable to consult a qualified technician.
Stelrad was created in 1936.
Leave it switched off ! That type of boiler are uneconomical and very old. There is no real way to save gas due to the way they work.
My Ideal WLx wall hung boiler was installed in 1984 and has been in service since that date. The boiler was dismantled once to fit new seals between the two cast iron sides of the main water chamber and that must have been done about 6 years ago. The boiler works perfectly and continuously for hot water and central heating. Mr. B S. Colchester Essex.
