I know that for adults, the proper weight ratio fo a height of 5'4'' is from 115-155. I am 23 and have been struggling to keep my weight down since I was your age. it is difficult but I have tried many diets (both healthy and dangerous) and in the long run, the healthy way to diet is much more effective and good for you.

You are really only 5 pounds over the healthy limit. You could probably lose 10-15 pounds to be perfectly healthy... if you do it in a healthy way. Starving yourself or taking diet pills can be risky and as soon as you get back on a healthy path you will gain all of the weight back. Try to walk more each day. Buy a pedometer. This is a small inexpensive device that you clip to your pants (on the inside so nobody sees it if you are embarassed) and it counts how many steps you take a day. If you take 10,000 (sounds like a lot but really isn't too difficult) and maintain a healthy diet... less snacking, smaller meals... you will lose weight. That is really all you need to do.

I have also been an on and off member of weight watchers. i don't necessarily recommend you join because you do not have a lot to lose but some things i learned from weight watchers are essentials for healthy weight loss. three things in particular:

1) Eat smaller portions. Even if you do not get much excercise, cutting down portions will allow you to lose a lot of weight. Instead of eating chips out of the bag, check the serving size on the back and count that amount of chips in a bowl so as not to overeat. Same with meals. No seconds. This will make a world of difference.

2) Weigh yourself once a week in the morning. I choose to weigh myself every Saturday. I wake up at 10am and weigh myself before eating anything. if i lost weight from the week before i allow myself a treat for that day.... an ice cream sundae.... french fries. something yummy. i will take the rest of the week to be healthy and work it off. you need to reward yourself on diets. also, weighing yourself weekly helps you keep track of your weight so you don't lose control.

3) keep active. use the stairs instead of elevators and escalators. even if you go to the mall, keep the walking pace up. just walking a lot will help you lose weight. try the pedometer.

overall, you are only 13 years old and are still growing into your body. do not worry too much about weight and how the models and actresses look. if you feel good about yourself that is all that matters. i am sure you are beautiful just the way you are. when i was 13 i was much more overweight than i am now. once i hit 16 my shape became much more womenly and i looked much better. 13 is an awkward age... for everyone. Just stay healthy and be positive and you will be fine.

What weight can be considered as overweight for an 11 year old girl?

The 11 year old girl may have grown quickly, so it would be wrong to jump to conclusions. A better way to measure body mass index (BMI) is by measuring the height, dividing it by half, then using that half value to measure around the waist. If the value won't fit, then she is overweight.
