This is from what I remember but don't base everything on my answer. Most of this depends on your metabolism and basically how much you need to consume I believe partially based on your BMI. So it truly depends on who you are. Gender, height, active or not, ect. Now I'm not a doctor or anything close but I just saw some articles and 1200 calories seemed to be the magic number. As for the walking part, it seems pretty healthy to me as long as you stay hydrated and don't deprive your brain of water then I'd say it's great. Also keep good posture when walking instead of just swinging one leg in front of the other. Make sure your consciencely putting an effort to walk. Someone else please follow up on if I missed anything as well as if I put bad info in.
The average person burns about 200 calories walking 2 miles. To burn 200 calories swimming, you would need to swim about 15 to 20 minutes depending how you are swimming.
Depends on what and how much you're eating Walking 5 miles ought to take you about 90 minutes. Not knowing your size, that might use up 600 calories. If your eating matches your needs today, the walking alone would lose you about one pound/week. But 600 calories/day isn't much. it's about two donuts. So if you're over eating with the calorie content of two donuts above your Daily need you're not gonna lose anything from that amount of Walking. Any serious attempt at weight loss has to start with controlling your eating.
Depends on a lot of things, but maybe 300 calories.
300
Generally, the more intense the exercise, the more calories are burned. An exception to that rule of thumb seems to be with walking. Walking slowly actually burns more calories than moderately paced walking. Strolling along at two miles an hour typically burns more calories per minute or unit distance than walking at three or even four miles an hour. Increasing your pace to race-walking speeds, however, burns more calories than slow or moderate walking.
There is no one-fit-all answer in relation to the number of calories burned. It depends upon your age, your weight, your degree of cardiovascular fitness, your body composition, and whether you are walking on flat ground or an incline (as well as how far you are walking and how fast you are walking).
per mile equals to 100 calories burnt. so 3 miles would burn 300 calories. It depends on the weight of the person walking and at what speed. It depends upon your age, your degree of cardiovascular fitness, your body composition, how fast you are walking, and whether you are walking on flat ground or an incline (as well as your weight and how far you are walking).
Of course any physical activity is good for you and walking is a good exercise that most people are capable of doing. That being said, walking 8 miles per week is not enough exercise for most, and not nearly enough for weight loss. On average, one burns about 100 calories when walking a mile (give or take depending on weight, body compostition, age, gender and metabolism). Walking 8 miles a week burns about 800 calories, which is equivalent to a milkshake. For most people, burning that many calories in a week will not create enough of a defecit for weight loss. If you chose to use walking as your primary form of exercise, ensure that you are "speed" or "power" walking: walk at a fast pace (at least 3.5 mph) and swing your arms, and aim for at least 3 miles per day.
how much do you weigh, are you walking uphill, downhill or steady ground, how fast are you walking. needs more detail and need to be in the fitness section
about 7 lbs. it takes 3500 calories to burn a pound of fat at average speed a two mile run will burn around two hundred calories multiplied by 60 that makes 24,000 calories or 6.857 pounds of pure fat.
No. You will burn many more calorie running the same distance than you would by walking.
In order to lose one pound, you must create a deficit of 3,500 calories, so to lose five pounds, you would need to burn five times as many calories, or 17,500 calories. The number of calories you will burn by walking depends on your weight and the speed at which you walk. At a moderate pace of 3 miles per hour, most people will burn between 60 and 70 calories per mile. Therefore, to lose five pound by walking alone, you'll need to walk at least 250 miles.
