Carbohydrates cannot be converted to protein. After being eaten, they will convert into sugar in the bloodstream, which can either be used immediately as fuel (energy) for the body, or will be stored as fat on the body.
Protein on the other hand is converted to muscle by consumption before or after weight-bearing exercise.
