Low-energy diets are those that contain very low carbohydrate-value foods, like sugars, (candy, etc.), and starches (carbohydrates), like rice, cereal, chips, breads, and pasta, to name a few. Fruits and vegetables contain varying, low-levels of carbohydrates, so the energy you get from them is low, but is more sustained, and therefore better for you. Meats and vegetables are a good, low-carb, high fiber and high-protein way to achieve a low-energy-diet, while still giving you balanced nutrition, and also the opportunity to lose weight.
