Carb cleaner, short for carburetor cleaner, is a specialized solvent designed to remove carbon deposits, dirt, and grime from carburetors and fuel injectors. It typically contains potent chemicals like acetone, toluene, or other hydrocarbons that dissolve sticky residues and improve engine performance. Used primarily in automotive maintenance, carb cleaner helps restore the efficiency of fuel systems and ensures proper engine operation. It is important to use it in a well-ventilated area and follow safety precautions due to its flammable and toxic nature.
Spray the throttle body (carb) with cleaner, not carb cleaner. You should use throttle body cleaner because there is a coating on the throttle body that will be removed if you use carb cleaner and that coating that comes from the factory should not be removed.
