The scriptures for the Muslims(Koran) and the scriptures for the Jews(Torah) both list animals that are unclean or forbidden to eat. There is some truth to this. In those days, these forbidden foods were not probably prepared and cooked or would spoil easy---no refrigerators. This rule actually helped to keep the people healthier than others.
