Not all Seventh-day Adventists are vegetarians but a major belief is that vegetarianism promotes health and well-being. Therefore many Seventh-day Adventists are vegetarians. Many scientific studies prove that eating meat can increase the rate of cancer by 40-50%. Also many studies have proven that people with chronic illnesses have been cured by eating a vegetarian/vegan diet. Seventh-day Adventists have been ranked by National Geographic as one of the top groups of people with longevity. This longevity has a lot to do with their diet and lifestyle.

Answer:

The answer is truly one-sided and until you are aware of both the sides it's harder for one to decide.

I'll provide the other side:

Meat

  1. It serves as a fabulous source of high-quality proteins, which a single vegetarian food is not able to provide. It contains all the essential amino acids that the body requires.
  2. The phosphorus content present in meat gets much more easily absorbed than that present in cereals and legumes.
  3. Eating meat helps human brains develop well. Many researchers found out that if our primitives had not eaten lean red meat over the evolutionary process of human beings, the human brain size would have been one quarter of our current brain size. Red meat supplies us with an efficient amount of protein and fat which helps our brains develop. Thus, we have intelligent brains as now.
  4. Animal protein contains vitamin B12 which can only be found in meat, especially in beef, and has many significant advantages. Firstly, it is essential for the production of red blood cells in our bodies. Secondly, it also prevents us from catching some serious diseases related to our nervous system such as brain shrinkage and dementia.

In the Holy Books of different major religions not even a single place it is mentioned that eating meat is prohibited (apart from rare cases like eating of pork is prohibited).

People say what you eat is what you become...It is not a fact just a theory.

If you talk about the pain of the animals...I would suggest you should stop breathing because you are killing a lot of germs and microscopic species (quite useful ones) and stop eating the plants because they posses life too (just because you can't hear them doesn't mean they don't feel pain).

Furthermore,who says to gulp it down till your throat...go easy on the food even if it's veggies. This will let you live longer.

Last but not the least...it's a personal choice if want meat in your diet or not...nobody's forcing.
