Does it meet your daily needs?

Your body has certain, well-established, daily norms of things such as proteins vitamins and minerals. Any diet that does not meet these requirements is not a diet that you should consider. If you don't know what those requirements are look for solid information online. For things like protein, which vary from person to person, you can usually find reliable calculators. If you have any medical conditions however it may be best to discuss your specific needs with a health professional before making an evaluation.

Does the diet meet your lifestyle needs?

If you have about 15 minutes to eat in a day but the pages of the diet manual you bought requires hours of cooking you know you're in the wrong place. Any diet plan that does not meet your daily life needs will fail, no matter how well-intentioned the author is or how hard you strive to find a way to make it fit. Find a reasonable diet that fits within the parameters of your life. Trust me on this one.

Doesn't sound crazy?

Usually that's covered by numbers one and two but just to be safe I need to ask you. Does the diet you're proposing sound crazy? If it does then you should probably pick a different plan. There are lots of crazy diets out there. Just because somebody got it publish doesn't mean you should try it. Seriously, there are people who try one week all fruit juice flushes. I don't care if they put protein powered in there and you take every vitamin known to man. That is just a crazy idea. If you have gone on those kinds of diets in the past the you may need to get your hands on a skeptical friend or two who can remind you that no person in their right mind would eat cabbage soup every day for a week. At least not if they weren't bucking to be the least popular person on the planet that is.

Now you can get up and come to a reasonable conclusion. Of course when in doubt you could always consult a local physician or healthcare provider. They are more than qualified to help you make an evaluation.
