Smaller animals which cannot cope with heat are nocturnal means something specific. It means that animals who cannot stand the heat from the sun only come out at night when it's cooler.
dinosaurs live in sunny weather, rainy, tornadoes, heat waves, hailstorms, snowy weather.
there is now more of a theory that the dinosaurs were mostly warm blooded so most dinosaurs regulaited body heat the same way that we and most mammals do.
The volcanoes produced a gas which in turn made the earth heat up and kill all of the dinosaurs. :)

The most likely scenario is that dinosaurs were actually warm blooded. Large dinosaurs could have survived because their bulk would help to conserve heat, and smaller dinosaurs in the Arctic probably had feathers.
dinosaurs, heat.
Pterodactyls died out along with the dinosaurs and many other animal and plant species during the K-T extinction event. It is believed that an asteroid, along with other environmental changes, struck the Earth and contributed to the mass extinction. Dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and many marine reptiles were not able to cope, so they went extinct.
