Pterodactylus is only known from the fossils of juveniles. However, paleontologists can estimate the size of an adult by looking at the numerous sizes and development stages of the juvenile fossils. An adult Pterodactylus's wingspan was probably about 5 feet, and its length was probably about 3 feet or so.
