If dragons really did exist, then they might breathe fire. However, there are no real dragons. Dragons are myths. Most scientists think that people invented dragons because they found dinosaur bones and did not understand what animals they came from.

He may not look it but Flame the dragon is acually older then spyro,

when spyro is 13 he is 14 he is 1 year older then spyro, and he is 1 year older then ember too.

He is 33 when his and embers son is born (their son's name is ash)

Well, some do, but others don't. They are still just as deadly. Some dragons can breathe frost and can give you a nasty condition of frostbite.

The dragons that do breathe fire, though, have a pouch in their mouth with a cube of something similar to flint. The gases come up from its stomach and catch on fire, therefore giving the impression its breathing fire.

Trust me on this, I love dragons. I even have a pet dragon. :)
