There are loads of different reasons why people think that the dinosaurs are extinct but I believe that the dinosaurs got extinct because a giant asteroid or comet would have hit earth. The meteor that hit earth is called the Chicxulub meteor. New evidence show that the earth wasn't hit by a single Chicxulub meteor there was several which hit the earth with such a force.

The meteor had hit the earth with such a force that it created a massive crate.The Chicxulub meteor hit earth on the northern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, near the town of Chicxulub. There is a crater about 120 miles in diameter. The asteroid that created this crater was about 6 miles wide.

Once the Chicxulub meteor hit the earth a huge mist of blackness filled the earth blocking out the sun. As we all know plants need sunlight for photosynthesis. When the blackness blocked out all the sunlight, plants started to wither because of no sunlight.

There are three types of dinosaurs; herbivores, omnivores, carnivores. As this problem carried on all of the dinosaurs started to die of. This happened because Herbivores such as Triceratops started to die of due to the plants dying of (they usually eat plants). Then carnivores and omnivores started to dye of like t-rex (they eat herbivores like triceratops). Eventually they all started dying of.
