Pliosaurs lived from 251 to 65 million years ago
An Aigialosaurus specimen was found with eggs developing inside of it. This is proof that mosasaurs did give birth to live young, which developed in eggs that the mother held in her body. Pliosaurs, also known as short necked plesiosaurs, also gave birth to live young.

Despite being somewhat similar in appearance, Pliosaurs and Mosasaurs were not closely related. Pliosaurs were a group of marine reptiles belonging to a now-extinct order of reptiles called plesiosaurs. Their closest living relatives are turtles and tortoises. Mosasaurs were a group of marine reptiles in the order Squamata, which also includes lizards and snakes. Pliosaurs swam primarily using their flippers, in which the phalanges (finger and toe bones) were pressed together. Mosasaurs had flippers as well, but the phalanges were spread apart. They likely propelled themselves though the water with their tails, which where longer and more flexible than those of pliosaurs.
