Most dinosaurs were not carnivores. It's always that way with animals because there's a lot more vegetable matter in the world than there is meat, so most creatures feed on plants.
To be a little more specific, there were two great branched of dinosaurdom, the lizard-hipped and the bird-hipped. ALL of the bird-hipped were plant eaters and MOST of the lizard hipped were as well.
It's easier to remember the few that WERE carnivorous. One good clue is that they stood on two legs (some two-legged, or bipedal, dinosaurs, however, were plant-eaters).
There were four-legged meat eaters, like Phobosuchus, but these were not dinosaurs.

Yoshi is not based on any particular type of real dinosaur, though his design is based somewhat on the theropod dinosaurs, the two-legged carnivores that include T. rex and velociraptor.
A couple of the dinosaur carnivores are: Tyrannosaurus Rex, Albertosaurus, Allosaurus, Baryonyx, Ceratosaurus, Compsognathus, Deinonychus, and many many more!
