On the other hand, there have been fossilized dung samples which show that T-rex ate triceratops. This may mean that triceratops was hunted by T-rex, but since T-rex is a scavenger, this could just mean they sometimes ate an already dead triceratops.

It depends which is stronger and the size and health of the two dinosaurs. T-rex is faster and has more power in jaws since they are so huge and armored with sharp teeth. The triceratops could kill a t-rex if it stabbed it with a horn, but t-rex can also kill triceratops from a fatal bite on the back of the body. T-rec has a huge set of crushing legs that could also probably kill a triceratops if it kicked it to death. A large enough t-rex would have no problem with fighting a triceratops. Its massive jaws and weight advantage would kill the triceratops a long with those legs as well. In this case, the t-rex would most likely win.

However, the triceratops would win because it has those three sets of sharp horns connected to its tough, armor head with thick muscles. Depending on how large t-rex is, triceratops would get seriously injured because the beasts's tough jaws and teeth would pierce into its skull. T-rex would somehow kill a triceratops if it was large enough or it sneaked behind triceratops for a fatal bite.
